UASBC Underwater Explorers Speakers Series on Zoom!

Dear UASBC Members:

With the ongoing restrictions on public gatherings as a result of COVID 19, the UASBC board has been looking for alternate ways to engage with our membership.   With this in mind, we have decided to experiment with holding virtual Underwater Explorers Speakers Series presentations using Zoom.  Zoom is free to participants and relatively easy to use.  It provides good video conferencing and presentation capabilities and is being widely used by other organizations to host events and presentations on-line.

Our first presentation will be at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.  Our speaker will be Ewan Anderson who is also our Communications Director.  A summary of the talk is provided below.  If you would like to attend, please send me an email (keith@bossons.ca) and I will send you instructions on how to join the meeting.

Ewan Anderson is a professional archaeologist and technical sport diver.  In addition to his local dive haunts around Vancouver Island, Ewan regularly makes trips to dive in underwater caves on Mexico's Yucutan Peninsula and shipwrecks around the rugged coast of Scotland.  More and more of his dives are technical dives involving mixed breathing gas and decompression.  Ewan was just recently certified to dive a closed- circuit rebreather (CCR) to advance his diving goals and enrich his underwater experience.  He will speak about why he made the switch to bubbleless diving and what it has been like to learn something new.

I encourage everyone to attend this event.  Hopefully, this will be the first of a regular series of virtual presentations until such time that we can resume in person meetings.

All the best,

Keith Bossons
