Shipwrecks of BC’s early coal trade

Speaker: David Hill-Turner, maritime historian

Title: Shipwrecks of BC’s early coal trade

Description: BC’s pioneering industry, coal mining, depended on ships moving the product from places such as Nanaimo to Pacific Rim markets. The UASBC has surveyed several shipwrecks involved in the coal trade. This evening we’ll explore the early coal mining and ships that transported the “black diamonds.”
