Professor Oleson is currently involved in a project studying Roman harbours at Caesarea and elsewhere. Rome was the first civilization to discover and make successful use of concrete. Using heavy machinery underwater, John has been taking core samples of the breakwaters and docks built by the Romans and will share his findings with us.
